Big update in the gallery!

Again we updated our main gallery with many new projects from the last couple of months, you'll be able to see the workflow of creating marble medallions and carpets using the water jet. Also making special decorative lamps out of 800 glass butterflies, cutting of a loading line sign for a sea vessel, and even cutting 110mm thick armored glass and more!

Also the gallery interface has changed once again, it is now real easy to use. It starts as a slideshow which automatically plays, the display time for each photo is 8 seconds, and that can be changed by clicking on the arrows under the photo. You can even pause the slideshow and transfer between the photos manually. To do so, simply click on the button under the picture that looks like a video pausing button. Then you will get arrows which will allow you to navigate forwards or backwards in the album. You can also at any time click on the bottom thumbnails to choose a picture there. You can quickly navigate the album using the scrollbar at the bottom. You may also notice the information docked on the left of the album, it's a description of the project in both english and hebrew.

Aquacut galleries updated with new photos and style

We've updated our galleries with some of our more recent works, including descriptions of each job. The photo albums have been changed to this new 3D Tilt style which is pretty damn cool! You can control it using your mouse or keyboard.
After the gallery window has loaded, the entire album of thumbnails will tilt and swivel by the movement of your mouse, to zoom in on a certain picture just click on it (or press the spacebar on the keyboard), and you can still tilt it around for your liking, clicking on it again will zoom out.
To see more information about that certain photo you're zoomed into - click on the white arrow which appeared at the right bottom corner (or press "F" on the keyboard to FLIP). After flipping you will also encounter the option to get the high resolution photo on a seperate window (to save or print) by pressing the "Show image" button at the bottom left corner.
To navigate between the different pictures you can just zoom in and out as you like, or use the keyboard arrow keys to move forward and backward. Notice each album is made out of several thumbnailed pages, and they can be accessed to by the big white arrows in the side of the album.
Most of the new photos in this update were added to the conventional cutting album, and you'll find there examples of close computerized nesting, while using the abrasive water jet for cutting epoxy glass and stainless steel. Also an aluminium cut into a speciality key tool, and thick aluminium cutting (over 70mm thick!). As well as cutting a brass sheet into a huge mirror frame & more!
Enjoy ;)

Happy 60th Birthday to Israel!

Our beloved country is celebrating 60 years of independence this week. As a tribute Aquacut decided to release a free DWG drawing of the Star of David, which can be used freely by anyone with a CNC machine, either Waterjet, Laser or an old school diamond cutter etc. The drawing is 120x104mm with walls width of 5mm, and can be downloaded here for free.
We've also cut it with our Waterjet, from different type of materials. Including a pretty cool looking decorative glass, as can be seen below:Star of David cut of Decorative Glass
Click on image for Hi-Res version

Many may think this is computer generated art-work, but we guarantee you, it's an actual photograph! ;)
Feel free to use it as a wallpaper and decorate your computer desktop. Happy Birthday to Israel!!

Our website is now available in Hebrew

Yes Hebrew speakers, you can now also browse freely our AquaCut website in your native language! After a few requests we've translated the site, and if you press the little Israel flag on the right top corner you'll reach that same page in Hebrew. Pressing the American flag will get you right back to English. We'll also try and keep an updated hebrew version of this blog. Maybe in the future we'll also do a Russian version, if we'll think it's needed - Be sure to stay tuned and check for more updates! ;)

Design a sign - New video up!

Sign with UV lit up
There's a new video in our AquaCut YouTube Channel, this one is showing how we've cut thin metal PC case door with letter cutouts, and made it into a door sign for the New Years 2008 Silvester party. In the video you'll see how one of the letters in the sign is being cut by the abrasive water jet machine, notice for some of the text we used stencil fonts, otherwise the text would be unclear, as the letters are not complete as holes. After the cut was done I spray colored the sign in blue, and colored a backplate with UV reactive orange color, then I added mini-UV cathods I had lying around, and lit it up! the result in the dark was quite wonderful as you can see in the picture.. Hehe, it's kinda late, but - HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! :o)

Opened up a YouTube channel

So I decided integrating YouTube into the company's site might be a good idea, an easy way to spread videos of our specific work, and of water jets in general, plus getting the privilege to be a part of such a great ever-growing community!
The videos that are at the front "Home" page of the AquaCut site are loaded directly from the YouTube server, and are randomly changing, which means refreshing the page should load different videos each time (of course there are only two for now so not that many options ;P)
The address to our YouTube channel, where you can find all of our videos is: http://www.youtube.com/aquacut
Hopefully I will edit and broadcast there more clips with time. But be sure to check out the ones that are already available, for your viewing pleasure ;o)

First post - about this blog

Welcome! :o)
This will be my first attempt at keeping up a blog.. exciting don't ya think?! in this blog I'll describe my work at AquaCut, which is a waterjet workshop factory, located in Israel. Basically I intend this to be kind of a work log combined with a photo blog, a place to show my creations and share it with others.
AQUA GLADIUS - After much pondering, the name chosen for the blog is in Latin, "aqua" of course means water, and "gladius" is sword (just like "gladiator" = sword man), which means it translates to "Water Sword" - Just something I came up with and found appropriate, being that we cut stuff up using ultra high pressured water.
The logo for this blog was drawn by David L. & modified a bit by Asia Liv & myself, and if you'll look closely you'll notice the blade is a photo of an actual waterjet cutting nozzle! ;)
More updates will come soon, as I learn along how to play with the blogging system.
